Especially as the fast food rockers are playing this saturday, is there anything else you can recommend? Would I like heaven?
(sorry to keep asking all these questions but I want him to enjoy it as well)

(sorry to keep asking all these questions but I want him to enjoy it as well) Describe him. What sort of stuff does he normally like? From which a different suggestion (which may not even be a gay venue - really!) can be, erm, suggested.

He likes more r'n'b type stuff but we want to go to a gay venue as we're both really shy and in a straight venue we would be afraid to even hold hands.

Erm, if I lived in London, I'd suggest somewhere. I can suggest somewhere in Manchester, but I don't suppose that's much good to you, really. Sorry, Jamie.

The fast food rockers will only be on stage for 3 minutes. I'm sure you could find something else to do to occupy that time If he is really in to his R&B he might enjoy the small R&B room at Heaven. It gets very hot and sweaty in there very quickly, not that that's a bad thing ;D

Heaven's a good choice. You might also want to try Popstarz, which is a bit less sceney. It attracts quite an indie crowd, but usually plays decent indie and not shit indie. It also has rooms for pop, indie and ruh n buh.

As ace as Poptastic is, I always end up feeling like I'm in a trouser press in a basement. At some point. Is Heaven subterranean?

Kind of, yeah.
I'm always too scared to go in the ruh n buh room because it's full of burly black men, and I think skinny white boy would look a bit out of place.

It's under the arches at Charing Cross station. Drinks cost an absolute bomb. Jamie - you could try my suggestion, although I know the location isn't that good for you. If you're worried all you need to do is hold off making out until you get back to the tube station.

I always go in there but sadly it seems to often to also be filled with straight couples... It's funny singing along to Khia's 'My Neck, My Back' in the face of a straight girl - they get so confused ;D

Yeuch. Heaven is so straight these days ;D
Actually, last time I went, my flatmate Katy got chatted up by a boy, and I didn't. I was rather hurt, actually.
