How come I only just heard David Beckham has signed for Real Madrid?
I'm guessing it has something to do with being on this message board all day and I haven't read a newspaper

Full story from BBC Sport: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/2998868.stmI was looking for the Wimbledon site for some pictures for my site when I stumbled on the story. Jamie, the words 'I haven't read a newspaper' couldn't be clearer. Whether it was in the newspapers today or not would mean shit all as I haven't read a newspaper. Next time I shall have to draw a picture describing my post as the English language is clearly wasted on you. And Mr IndieHorse, thanks for your support in not knowing about this. I thought I was the only one who hadn't heard.

not having any contact with the media all day as you must not have done is mighty impressive. well done.
the news was confirmed at about half ten last night.
i have lots of thoughts on this.
the one that is occupying my mind the most at present is general irritation at the speculation as to why he left.
what kind of light can paul parker, who left while el beckham was still a trainee shed on the issue? stupid radio five.

not having any contact with the media all day as you must not have done is mighty impressive. well done. Well. Erm. I was reading Harry Fucking So-called Potter 4 in preparation for Harry Fucking So-called Potter 5 so I've not been reading the paper or watching TV. Anyway, it was clear when he turned down Barca that he was either going to Real or stay at Old Trafford. The thing is, isn't Luis Figo in Beckham's position at Real? I can't see Dai Becks shifting him.

Surely if Figo was going to Man U it would have been part of the transfer package.
Real can hardly afford Becks as it is. Throwing in Figo would cut a good few million off the price.
And I heard Inter are interested in him, though the Real boss insists Figo is still important to them or something.

agreed, but it was yesterdays paper that made the figo-man u speculation, before the transfer.
real are rather good at squad rotation, i'm sure they'll find a place for him.
despite popular opinion , beckham is a quality player- real have bought him for more than his marketing potential/to fulfil their 'stars' policy. he'll do well there, damnit.

nice to read the same discussions everywhere .. dont forget the already infamous 'whos gonna wear number 7' debate ... but then again most of y'all dont even know whos the Real 7 at the moment without checking anyway and HE'S the coolest! hate Real though I do so I cant wear his jersey nowhere without justifying myself at every streetcorner. PS and it was my 7th post. how spot-on.

Well I support Sunderland in English football, based initially on red and white stripes being my acest look, but that was early 90s Alyson, and I'm kinda stuck with them...
Claire supports Torquay and Celtic
And Beckham isn't THAT good is he? VN is better aint he?

Balls to you klxx. It's Raul. And Figo used to be #7 at Barca and now he's not #7 at Madrid. So Beckham will follow suit and not be #7 I heard being #7 was due to be a clause in his contract but obviously not. Maybe that was his Man U contract. And Alyson is quite right. Becks is not THAT good. He puts in medicore performances in quite a lot of games but when he really needs to pull a good game out of the bag, he can do it. That's something Figo can't do. But why do you support Torquay, Ms With A Y?

I don't support Torquay mate, I support Sunderland. It's La Boyle that supports Torquay, based on someone at one her TV conference badgering her about going to see them. I think she prefers Celtic.
Kewell is better than Beckham isn't he?
(Getting patriotic!)
