today, whilst shopping i bought *leather driving gloves from topman *a leather and metal 'wrist strap' *a sky blue plastic bracelet from topshop (ie the girl's bit) *a black & a red bracelet from dorerthy perkins (cross dressing territory now)
Am I being trendy and edgy or a bit try hard? I guess pictures would help but what can you do. I'm still tempted by the green fedora I saw in H&M a few weeks ago but everyones had a fedora moment recently, haven't they?

Well, let me just say, i looked long and hard at those driving gloves. I already have a leather and metal wrist strap, and have had it for some time. I think the girls bracelets is taking it a bit too far... but i can see what you are trying to get at with this piont. Why should fashion be for girls? Arent men allowed to look good too? As for the fedora though... i was going to buy one several weeks ago, then saw ned girls wearing them. I would rather eat my own sick then share stlye with these people. Do not buy it. Once the neds catch on, the moment is over. remember that, its the best piece of fashion advice you will ever receive, well, from me at least...

Don't worry, if you're shopping in topman you really can't be that edgy When it comes to bracelet type things, ribbons are the next big thing. Just go out and buy a few yards and tie bits around your wrists. That's what I did on Friday. The woman in the shop kept asking what the ribbon was for. I told her it was 'to tie round something'. I didn't lie, I am a thing.

Ive been making my own clothes at the moment. not cause im poor. cause im not. but because im generally much happier with the results. I like the clothes in H&M but now EVERYONE shops there. and when you go gaying many people wear its stuff. so i wouldnt feel very individual. Thats also why i stopped shopping at topman
As for wristbands. I did own one and wore it, but then i realised i was just copying a trend that was completely unnessacary and felt like a gay sheep.
I found a shop in Europe called Bershka ( i dunno if anyones heard of it ) its a bit like a cross between H&M and Zara (another shop i love at the moment) but even funkier. So i bought lots of AMAZING clothes from their, and everyones like were did you get those from. So its a good tip if you wanna seem a little more unique. Continental Fashions basically know how to make a good pair of jeans to show men off in the right places. England just CANT seem to do this. Plus clothes are so much cheaper abroad.
I think im a fashion junky. oh well

I like making stuff, but it often looks bad and I end up not wearing it. I'm into vintage and charity shops at the moment, but I must admit I found a lovely stripy t-shirt in topman recently. I'm confident it will never go out of fashion.
I am addicted to a place called cenci rags on monmouth st in london. It's a vintage shop, with a lovely (slightly old) American lady who is really helpful. She found me a gorgeous 70s suit jacket which fits me perfectly and looks really smart. I have a 36" chest, so that was an achievement! It was cheap too, unfortunately most of their stuff isn't.
They have a really cool camera case at the moment, it's brown leather and I really want it (just to use as a bag, because it's designed for big oldy worldy cameras) but it costs £67.
I really can't afford that.

these are the replies i was too scared to post.
i think leather driving gloves - excellent leather wrist strap - passable, could look very good girls bracelets - very good work
can i be awful, and say that i go into topman and h&m in order to make sure my wardrobe doesn't look like that? I also buy things to cut up or paint on. the best way around the h&m debate (cheap, easy, makes you look alright, but you'll see someone else with it and want to cry) is to go to kids h&m. sometimes the clothes fit you, and when they don't they make great cloth-kit material. they also have great hairbands to wear on your wrist.
I want to be even bolder, actually, and suggest that sweatbands are offically So Over. bangles are good, despite the tendency to creep up the arm and be quite nasty weapons whilst dancing, and my current favourite is a sleeve I cut off a kids jumper, which makes a lovely accessory. tho not at work. ribbons sound nice. i could go on....
the other day some guy was staring at my home-made t-shirt, and it was only jeremy edwards (so not a style guru admittedly, but it's since become a favourite

God, most of my jewellery comes from Claire's Accessories and there doesnt appear to be any label on them saying "Girls only" so I couldn't care less if people think they're for girls or not.

I was in Gap today. Sorry.
Actually, I'm not. They do nearly all their stuff in a 36" leg now. If I'm not careful, I'm going to succumb* (I haven't done so yet).
Why is tall life so hard**?
*Not remotely innuendo. Before some dickhead makes a smartarse remark. **And again.

i wear pretty plastic bead bracelets that i get given/steal from my female friends. most of my bracelets snapped though. if i can't find bracelets then i'll wear elastic bands or whatever i can find.
my favourite item of clothing i've made was this army style jacket that i covered all over with sweets - jelly babies, liquorice alsorts, fruit jellies, haribo. it looked amazing. i wore it once.

If you dont want to be a Clone (of the gay, rather than Neptunes, variety), youd be best to avoid Topman, Gap, H&M, River Island, and a few more places I can't think of.
If you want to stand out when youre gaying, or just want some nice baggy jeans and a natty baseball cap, go directly to your nearest skateshop.
Theres also a great shop in Edinburgh called Swoosh which sells some brilliant retro/alt tshirts emblazoned with things like 'Jesus is my Homeboy' 'Mary is my Homegirl' and 'I Cant Live Without My Radio'. Rockin.
Or buy some nice blank shirts and screen print your own designs!
