If choosing the winner was solely up to me, this would take home the £20. But it isn't just up to me, but this will probably win. My favourite to win the whole thing.

I think it's a fairly inevitable winner, but it seems to have united a lot of people in the name of Pop, so why not? Oh yeah, and it's pretty darned ace as well.

This is probably the only record that could POTENTIALLY nudge aside Ladytron in my eyes, would be a worthy winner and no mistake, clearly. Single Of 2003 So Far and that is not opinion but FACT (only joking, it's obviously an opinion really, ph33r my arrogance).

Am I the only person that thinks 'Sound Of The Underground' would been a much worthier choice??

Although that is also brilliant and would still be entirely deserving.

I've voted 'Sound' as my 12th choice. I would have voted 'Freak' but think that it's probably not in there cos it's too old.

It would be too obvious for No Good Advice to win. If I was on the judging committee, I wouldn't make the mistake of automatically handing the £20 to Girls Aloud, although they probably need the cash most. £20 is a phat sum in council land.

What an inappropriate accusation to make about Simon Popworld.
He's a nice man, and has never, and will never get any council girls pregnant.

We don't have to be TOTALLY like the Mercury panel - we'll be the ones to give the prize to the OBVIOUS winner!

"Sound of The Underground"'s chance was possibly ruined by Jo Whiley Cayote pretending to like it.

SOTU is better. I want it I want it!
I'm not a GA fan - but this is the most hip-gyration-inducing song out there at the moment. It's only let down is that it has a very lazy middle eight, although this fact does mean that we get to do 'special' dance moves to 'it's the static from the floor below' one extra time. It also enduces shirt removal and arse pinching - it's a winner all the way.
The bridge is a supreme piece of tension-building which is only satisfactarily resolved in the chorus. A little piece of musicological magic. My survey says 'ding!'.
