OOOOH! Out Of My Hair!
I remember that being on a free Smash Hits compilation tape. It was fantastic. So was 'What Do I Do Now'...genius song. Didn't much like 60 Ft Dolls though.
Has anyone read Louise Wener's novel?

I remember that being on a free Smash Hits compilation tape. Where do you think I got half of this playlist from? It was so long ago I needed to use compilation tapes to jog my memory XD

I thought it seemed familiar, but since I lost the tape about a month after I got it, I couldn't be sure.
Looking forward to part 2, especially the Backstreet Boys before Nick went ugly.

I love that song. Benz were the band that scallies liked at my school. I might have seen them at a Smash Hits Show on the Road. Weren't EYC doing stuff at this point?

I liked Shara Nelson back in 1996. Even though her last album came out in late 1995. As did that Sleeper song, incidentally.
And Dubstar too, who brought joy into my life.
Where is Shara now? She was great, when she tried.

I haven't read either of them yet, but a woman I served at work was reading Goodnight Steve McQueen. She didn't take kindly to being asked if it was good by a random waiter; I think she just wanted me to shut up and go back to being a penguinly-dressed food providor. Heartless bitch. I tried to strike up a conversation at work with a woman who'd got some Charles Rennie Mackintosh wrapping paper in her bag, to show that we're not all stupid checkout assistants. I said: "Is that a Rennie Mackintosh design?"She said: "I don't know. Is it? Ohhh! Lovely. I just liked the pattern. Do they make birthday cards as well?"I said: "Do you have a Nectar card?"

I love that song. I love that song too. And I loved Louise Werner. Did anyone see Live Forever on BBC 2 on Monday night. She was on there, looking lovely as ever. Those were the days when music rocked! (I'm gonna get slated for that)

I love Sleeper ever so! I made a plea to Louise and Andy to return to music earlier in the year. Louise didn't totally dismiss it but I think Andy wasn't too pleased considering I'd just seen the group he was in at the time play...

Weren't EYC doing stuff at this point? EYC hit their peak in 93. 96 was a year of good music. beautiful freak, fuzzy logic and everything must go. none of which belong in the dumper, mind.

Well, some music rocked. Ms Wener in particular. I *heart* her. Anyone remember this gem from the career-coffin-sealant that was Pleased to Meet You? Fifty-seven kids, and all of them ugly...Yes, it's Firecracker! They don't make 'em like that anymore. The really annoying thing is that 'Please To Meet You' is actually a very good album. Yes, it is. It is. Although 'Nice Guy Eddie' was their finest moment (in my worthless opinion). Watching Louise Wener on 'Live Forever' the other night, I was struck by how irritating she was to listen to when she spoke, all the time, absolutely always, and how annoying and irritating and annoying and irritating and annoying. And irritating. Though pretty. I still like Sleeper, though.

Possibly, but not a three-thousandth as good, obviously. ;D Sarah Blackwood says: "That's right."

I had that Smash Hits tape as well, and sadly listened to it enough at the time to realise, 7 years later, where most of that original list came from... That Safeboy song was ACE but I have no idea who that band were. What do I do now? was one of the first singles I ever bought. Those were the days... Me and my friend called her Louie Wiener for some reason...
