I used to love my Barbie dolls ( but did have a few Sindy's) I had a house, camper van, horse, loads of different dolls including some skippers and Derek who was from the Barbie Rock stars. I was in the fan club too and used to get Birthday adn christmas cards from Barbie herself.

I just used to play with my sisters collection, we would play em nearly everyday, even do voices. (when i was younger of course)
We would do mini soaps complete with a "find out what happens next week" voice over bit at the end.
In each episode it was just dressing them all up for a fasion show, trip out to the garden, hairdressers etc...
Most of the Barbies we gave makeovers too, which they ended up with black biro makeup, badly cut hair and hair dyed with feltips!
Wonder why it was such a shock when i told my mum i was gay 7 years later?

Wonder why it was such a shock when i told my mum i was gay 7 years later? Only 7 year later ... either you were quite old when playing with the dolls or quite young when you came out? Not meaning to be nosey ... tell me to shut up if you want

I just used to play with my sisters collection, we would play em nearly everyday, even do voices. (when i was younger of course) I did that, she had My Little Pony, Pound Puppies, Polly Pocket and (Still has) Puppy in my Pocket (and Kittie, Pony and every Animal Hospital one in existence) as well except...... She was playing with them aged 12/13. Which means I was doing the voices aged 19/20.

I never got to play with Barbies when I was young, as my sister wasn't into girly stuff. I did have two Cheetara thundercat dolls, however, and sometimes - if they were done being superheros - I would send them shopping together. Only sometimes, mind...

Have you seen the one you can get dressed up as sandy from Grease. (Sandy at the end not the beginning.)
I would be quite tempted to collect Barbie dolls ( of the more interesting variety) if I had anywhere to store them.

i went to the toy museum in prague
i enjoyed the barbie exhibition.
at the sight of the jaromir jagr, eric lindros and patrick roy 'barbies' i got far mor exited than i should have done.
in our feminist enclave of a house no barbies were allowed.
i was bought a doll [sweetie, for the record] before my sister was. my close personal [female] friend was only allowed one on the condition that it had a willy.
god bless right-on early 80s parenting.

My sister had Barbie but Barbie lived in a big Sindy house with two men. So anyway I used to play a game...what happened was the Barbie house was transported to Eternia(He-Mans home) and then all the Barbie dolls would be scared of Skeletor and his men so He-Man would save them all. Granted the Barbie dolls were alot bigger than my He-man toys but this was because Barbie world was a world of weak a girly giants. Thats my He-man

My mum would only let my sister have a Sindy they were both brunette, and apparently Sindy had "hips" whilst Barbie was an unrealistic portrayal of women or something. Also Sindy was an individual who could live without Ken. i had Sindys too but they were ugly compared to Barbie ... I also had the mum from the heart family - anyone else remember them? She had a maternity smock and a baby.
