PSB have to be the most ignored band in the world right now. What does it take for them to be heard on the radio these days? I only hear their old classics on retro programmes which is sad really, considering I think that their 1996 album, Bilingual is absolutely beautiful with Behaviour not far behind. They failed miserably with their latest album, Disco 3 (has some excellent dance tunes) due to no promotion.

They deserve more. I'd have thought Radio 2 would play them at least?

Can we forgive them for their walk on the dark side (indie) though?

I rather enjoyed Release. I much prefer PSB sounding dark and epic (Nightlife) than sounding happy and euro (Bilingual, nice songs - dreadful production).
The problem PSB have these days is they just don't fit in anywhere anymore. Because they don't blend into a easily definable category (they're an old act still making current sounding music, if you're a rock act you're allowed to get old, but pop!? How does that work? Pop musics mean't to be young isn't it? - you are NOT allowed to get old. Ever. With the exception of Madonna, possibly).
That's what Release was all about. They thought if they could pull a Coldplay on us and re-brand (to use they're words) PSB as somekind of "Band" rather than "80's synth pop duo" they'd open their music up to a brand new audience rather than the slowly dwindling fanbase they have now.
I do believe PSB are ace in many ways tho!

Oh, and "Somebody Else's Business" off Disco 3 is by far one of Pet Shop Boys finest moments ever.
Ever!

Well we've got their second greatest hits album to look forward to now. It will appear in November and will be preceded by a brand new single in October.
Also some of their new material is expected to end up on Sophie Ellis Bextor's new album, due out later this year.
The boys also plan to follow-up their album Release in late 2004 or early 2005.

They're very important. Certainly more important than me, which isn't something you can say about most people. I'd heard suggestions that they could be going to meddle with Sophie E-B, but I thought it was just a rumour? Though her glacial pop persona would suit their work very nicely. I hope it's true. And look, here's a lovely picture of them: "Hello. We're the Pet Shop Boys."

Lol, what a very funny picture. You really should thank the person that put the Pet Shop Boys back to the top again so you could post that. Oh Go on please.
