Yeah, but the song 'Goooooollllldeneeeeyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeee' was great.
I'm always being made to feel guilty for enjoying the modern Bond films more than the classics, even though they're clearly not as good. Grrr.

(Just wanted to clear that up)Nick you almost made me choke on my Marlboro light - what about 'Die another Day' with a particularly camp Pierce Brosnan and the divine Lady Madge. In fact I'm going to put the single on right now!! GGGrrrrrr **BUCKSTER marches down his marbled hallway on a mission muttering under his breath**

Nick you almost made me choke on my Marlboro light - what about 'Die another Day' with a particularly camp Pierce Brosnan and the divine Lady Madge. In fact I'm going to put the single on right now!! GGGrrrrrr **BUCKSTER marches down his marbled hallway on a mission muttering under his breath** 'Die Another Day' was the first time that Pierce Brosnan really looked his age. When he's seducing Halle Berry on the bar terrace in Cuba, he looks so old. And he just comes across like and old lech, to be honest. And she just goes and fucks him right there and then, without even having seen him kill anyone yet... Madonna was a bit shit in it, but not that shit. It wasn''t like she was in it for long. I heard someone else in the cinema (nobody I knew, I hasten to add) suggest that in the title sequence, they didn't need to roast/poison/beat/submerge/electrocute Bond to torture him, they just needed to play the song on rotation. Aren't people unkind?

That madonna song always make s me feel all jerky. And why does she say 'sigmund freud' in a really pervy voice half-way through? C'mon, all you psych students: exams are over now!

As a huge Bond fan from way back I was dubious about 'Goldeneye' at first but I was pleasantly surprised. Brosnan is the 2nd best Bond and Famke Janssen was delicious as Xenia Onatopp.( :oSqueezing guys to death with her thighs during sex was genius ) Tina was the perfect choice to re-launch the Bond sound. I was lucky enough to see her perform it as part of her Wildest Dreams Tour in 1996, she sounded great literally emerging from a huge Golden Eye at the back of the stage!! Then I was hugely disappointed by Sheryl Crows poor effort. (KD Lang’s End Title number 'Surrender' is infinitely better and should have been the main song, stupid producers!) Garbage delivered a great tune with a neat video for it all to be destroyed by Mandonna. Saying that I like 'Die Another Day' as a song but really don't as a Bond Song.

Goldeneye can also be interpreted as being about Pierce Brosnans rise to the Bond role with a whole verse seemingly being about him mising out in '86 on getting the role.
Die Another Day is a good film until they go to Iceland where upon it becomes hopeless, see also The Living Daylights with Afghanistan and Diamonds are Forever atthe moment Sean Connery appears with a dead rat on his noggin.
