Sorry to start yet another Single Of Today thread, but...
I'm listening to it now, and it is absolutely fucking ace.
It's easy to forget how staggeringly brilliant this song is, but we never, ever should.
Especially the "There where the air is free..." bit in the middle (which Neil wrote).
Waves crashing! Seagulls! Fanfares! Deep-voiced male Russian choirs! Keyboards! Anthemic chorus! Sylvia Mason-James! Slight variations in the second verse! Repeated second chorus! Melancholic PSB-penned gay utopia middle-bit with gorgeous Russian male choir harmonies in the background! Returning-seagull-soundtracked minimalist third verse! Bouncy housey-keyboard! Climactic Russian-choir-bit, pre-chorus! Chorus with ad-libby bit! Dramatic final chorus! Big, final shouty-built-up-Neil-and-choir-vocal-harmony bit! Bleepy Sylvia-y outro!
And there you have it: a damn-near-perfect pop song.

and the old trafford cover versions are even better. no longer did we have to do the crap paul mcgrath/daily star thing.
oh ahhhhh, cantona oh ahhhhhh, eric caa-antona etc.
edit- but i really do like the PSB version. i'm not just posting to talk football. the song is fucking great.

I thought it was nicked by us Gooners first, with "One Nil, to the Arsenal", but never mind.
Great song, weird video
