I had a bad day at work yesterday. I didn't leave my office until 7:30pm (two hours of overtime, which I suspect I will not be paid for), and when I arrived on the platform at the tube station, the electronic sign informed me there were no trains for 17 minutes.
17 minutes!
I considered throwing myself onto the rails in sheer frustration, but then I realised I'd have to wait 17 minutes for something to actually hit me...

I got on the train yesterday morning, along with three protestors, protesting the nearby Arms Fair.
All reasonable, no problem. Except, I didn't really get on the train, naturally I actually got in the train. They however, really did get on. The roof. And stayed there, smoking.
One of the wittier Tube staff (not a fiercely fought competition) did reprimand one of them for smoking which caused something of a giggle. Most people were just fucked off, as was I, as I was thus made horrendously late, meaning I had to stay later in the evening. Boo and indeed hoo.
And all this, whilst not being a huge fan of the aforementioned Arms Fair myself...

when i used to catch a bus to college everyday it would regularly be upto half an hour late. sometimes it would just skip my village out all together.
on my last day of college, the bus i was waiting for never came. so i had to wait for the next one (which was something like one and a half hours later). then that coach broke down. by the time i got to college there was about five minutes left of my classes.
i don't have to catch many buses these days.

I had a bad day at work yesterday. I didn't leave my office until 7:30pm (two hours of overtime, which I suspect I will not be paid for), and when I arrived on the platform at the tube station, the electronic sign informed me there were no trains for 17 minutes. I've had similar experiences over the last two days. On Thursday I was about to leave at 5:30pm (an hour after I've done my contractual hours) when I stupidly took a call. Apparently one of my colleagues had promised some work by 2pm and they hadn't done it. I said I'd find out what had happened and get the work done that evening. That wasn't good enough, apparently, so I (y'know, the person going out of his way after a long, hard day) was shouted at, bawled out and told that I had to name and shame the person who'd messed up (as opposed to actually doing the work so we could all go home). I didn't know who it was. I was shouted at some more. I told her that I could go and conduct her witch hunt or she could let me get on with it. I then put the phone down and switched the ringer off. Anyway, it turned out to have been my boss at fault but I generously offered to stay and get the work done. I eventually left at about 7:30pm. So yesterday I planned on leaving early because I don't get overtime. But I had to speak to my boss about something before leaving and when I eventually got into see her she was obviously very stressed (and doing about five jobs at once) and needed someone to vent to. I didn't get out until a lot later than I wanted. Then I got stuck on a tube, causing me to miss my train by two minutes. So I waited 15 minutes for the next one. Which was massively delayed. So I waited another 15 minutes for the next one. Which was cancelled. I eventually had to get a train and a bus and walk. I wasn't pleased.

the metro which runs through the north east is heaps better than the london underground, for two reasons:
the lady on the metro doesn't say 'mind the gap' with a hugely unecessary pause between words. she doesn't say anything, except, 'we're in dinnington now, get off the train, please', or something along those lines. she has an ace accent.
there are never any old ladies on the london underground. ever. or least, there's never been any old ladies on the london underground when i've been on it. there are always old ladies on the metro, and they always fall over when it turns around a corner. this makes me laugh, in a way that is probably very, very wrong.
cheerio!

Manchester has fantastic public transport. An excellent tram service, and the busiest bus route in Europe on Oxford Road.
Not that this really benefits me, as everywhere I ever need to go (uni, the city centre, the gym, Canal Street, work etc) are all within 20 minutes' walk of my flat.
But it's nice to know it's there.

I absolutely hate buses. I went to the cinemas with 10 other friends yesterday to celebrate my friend Lauras 16th. After we saw the film(The Sin Eater if you were wondering. It was pretty awful except for naked Heath of course )we went to McDonalds bribing people to give us free food by flirting with the staff. By the time we left it was about 9:10 and they all came to the bus station with me as i was the only one getting the bus home. Anyway, we waited and waited and the bus never came. At this point, these year 7 pikeys started thinking they were cool and started making snide comments but Stuart sure put them in their place. Then they all started getting grumpy and all wanted to go back to the cinema to be picked up by their parents, only Karl and Amanda would stay with me-so they all went. Then there was just the 3 of us, and the pikey kids started getting all the bags out of the bins and throwing them at us and coins, bottles etc. The hilarity of it all was, they missed every single time . By this time neither of the 2 buses that should have came, turned up so Karl said his dad would give me a lift home-so all that for nothing. and of course an ear bashing from my mum when i got home Great night though
