I am really rubbish at thinking today, but I feel your on the following would be of great use to my HW.
I have to... Produce a chart containing points for and against the idea of censorship.
and
Write your guidelines for the censoring of popular music. consider age, gender and representation.
Anybody bored enough to help me with this? Pretty please?

I have explained this before in my other HELP ME threads, lol. Communication studies is like a cheap watered down version of media studies.

That sounds more interesting than my essay about Just Wars. I also have an essay kind of similar to yours for English where I am doing about the exploitation of youth culture and pressures on children to grow up too fast. Hoping to include some S Club 8 references in there!

i'm not bored, but its more interesting than what i'm actually doing*. so what help do you want? i think that you should write really radical censorship rules.
- allowing swearing, but ban rappers from being homophobic.
- say that any music of black origin shouldn't be censored because its a reflection of urban/black culture (representation).
- restrict record sales that have semi nude female artists on the front / publicty to those over 18, to combat the rise in early teen eating distress (gender).
in order to point out the fatal flaws in censorship.
how's that? probably not at all useful. back to powerpoint...
*which is writing a presentation on delivering effective youth services in market towns through multi-agency service models. told you so.

Produce a chart containing points for and against the idea of censorship. fill it up with lots of quotes. i can give you a quote on censorship from the media studies file of the famous mr. spinmeround: you should never censor art. ever. eloquence has always been my strong point. i'll be needing quotes from popular music fans for my media longstudy - any thoughts you have on how great/evil made-for-television pop is would be most appreciated! cheerio!

I am completely against censorship. Totally.
I think if you don't like what you are hearing, switch it off.
Art should not be molested.

so far i have....
FOR Certain groups of people need protecting, e.g. children. Regulations are there to prevent them from viewing anything seen as “damaging”. Censoring of subjects like terrorism prevent public outcry.
AGAINST Everybody should be entitled to view and access any information if they feel need to. If people don’t like what is being published, they don’t have to read it.
Hurrah!
I think i may move onto task number 2....

Pleeeeease! And Steph I may be borrowing your phrase 'public outcry' for my essay if I can somewhere to fit it in. I bet I could outcry any of you! ha. Jessica
