Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm finally getting a computer at home ( before I get fired from here for being on PJ all the time !!! ). I don't know which Broadband deal to get. AOL seems better than BT because you get the modem free but I've heard that the service from BT is better.
Can anyone advise ?

Well I've had BT for about a year and a half and it's only crashed twice and only for a day.
If you've got a BT line in your house anyway and can run the internet off it without getting a seperate phone line then it's good because the £28 per month BT charge includes line rental that you were paying on your phone line anyway so its actually less than £28.
Modem costs about £80, connection is £60 though they might be doing free connection which they do quite often.

They're doing the connection free but the modem is £50 - I don't mind forking out for that as long as it's a decent service. I think it's going to have to be BT.

I haven't had any problems with Freeserve. But if money's an issue and you already have a BT line, may as well go with them.

I share the broadband with 12 other people in the building and it's still very fast.

I'm on BT, and there was a load of hoo-har about it at first, but it's very fast and super now. Although, you don't get an e-mail address or username service that you get AOL, which is total bastard.

I'd go with Tiscali. They do 2 deals, one is cheaper per month, free modem, but you have to pay connection of £50 I think. The other is slightly more a month, free connection, free modem
I wouldn't trust AOL. Everything about them is evil

AOL is awful, I must admit. But I'm stuck with it for the time being.
