Hi,
We're recruiting new members to Urapopstar which was relaunched today with a new website. It's a fun and addictive game in which you create a band or a solo artist, promote them and get them into the top 40 singles and albums charts!
The site has now been running for over two and a half years and the community is as strong as ever, we've got about 50 members at the moment. But we'd love some PJ members to come and join us too.
Here's this week's top 10 as an example:
1 - 1 Now I Don't - ex.one & Pure Silk
2 1 2 Scandaluscious- Mis-Tooq
3 - 1 I've Seen It All - Katrin Holmlund
4 3 3 tart Trash Woman/I Want That Man - Buffi & Lucreacia
5 - 1 Up For Anything - GirlSound
6 2 2 Here We Go Again/Too Hot To Handle - Tara Milano
7 5 2 Nothing I've Seen - K'
8 - 1 Black Dyke - MykNMy
9 4 3 I Miss You - Alicia
10 - 1 Send Me Flowers - Claire Kitten
So how does it work? Basically think of a name for your act and a first single. Then you get yourself a "model" for your artist (or band) who can be a famous musician here or abroad, or a supermodel, or a sportsstar, an actor, whatever. Or even better if you can find pictures of someone who isn't famous.
Create signature banners, CD covers, write lyrics - if you can, write video scripts, post trashy gossip, get them married to other artists - whatever you like. We've got a busy promotion forum in which you just post stuff about your acts and their material, and check out what other acts are doing. Every week all members vote for up to 8 singles, and the votes are used to compile the official Urapopstar top 40 singles chart. Obviously the aim is to get to #1 - there's nothing scientific about it, if you promote well and your act is popular, people will vote for you. But if you can't be bothered, you're more likely to miss the top 20. There's also an albums chart.
So Urapopstar is really just a virtual version of the UK music industry! It may sound difficult/hard work/pointless/boring/dull/or just plain sad but I think you'll enjoy it. We're accepting new members immediately.
Anyway get over to the new look website which launched today - and under new management as I recently handed the site over to someone else. Just look around the site and the forums, find out what we're all about, and if you think it might be a bit of fun to do, give it a go.
BTW my acts are Ace*Teens (kind of like A*Teens but the idea was that they covered "classic" Ace Of Base records But now they do their own material), Amalia (a Swedish pop singer) and Tricity (dutch euro-trance duo). We've got lots of different types of acts on Urapopstar of every genre (but perhaps a few too many solo girls). If you want to stand out, start a boyband or a girlband, or a solo guy. Or a DJ/dance act, or garage or R&B or even a novelty act! But only join if you really want to give it a go.
That's enough waffling from me, now go check out the site!
