don't know if anyone still looks at this forum but i wanted to get this out of my system.......
Speechless was only OK but the new d-side single is immeasurably ace - especially the chorus, which sounds like one of Mark from Westlife's vocal parts (usually sung while slow-karate-chopping the air in front of him, eg World of Our Own in the scene on the bridge), halfway between emotion and pure shouting!
AND the lo-fi guitar part makes the vocals immediately afterwards after sound like a key change (the greatest moment in any pop song) without any need for the boys to sing any differently, thus reducing the odds of messing it up when doing it live.
AND the bit at the end of the chorus where one of them (don't know their names yet) softly sings "WAIT! I already am........." is surely already one of the top pop moments of 2003.
It's clearly up there with "I Want It That Way" and "Fool Again" as one of the best mid-tempo pop songs of the past five years.
AND they're good looking lads. apart from the one who looks like he has a pair of tights over his head.
AND when it comes to Triple8 vs D-side: "give me a reason" is only an average song, and the little head jiggle that David does in the second to last shot of the video is one of the most inexplicably annoying things i've seen this year. ruins the whole vid.
