Easily the best song of their young careers... but wouldn't it be strange if this won, and a band with a different name came to pick up the prize? Not in this case, given they have the exact same band members and all...

This was by far the best UK pop single of the past year, if this had been played to the Ivor Novello judges without telling them who it was by it would surely have walked away with everything.
Surely also deserves bonus votes for the top video, especially the bit that drew parallels between the colour schemes of fields of flowers and stockpiled cars, thus promoting the natural beauty of technology and industry (or something like that).
And it had the best S Club dancing since "Reach".
This must win!!

The video rules. Everyone loves magic carpets.
I think perhaps Fool No More is better though, just because it has the ABBA chord progression going into the chorus.
Lyrically, New Direction is better, but we know that does not figure in pop mightiness.

The dancing, the beat, the sheer fab-ness. The slightly guilty thrill of loving it when you work in the education sector.... Ah ah ah ah aaaaah as they so beautifully cry. Pure joy.

Love it.
I prefer Fool No More, but I reckon the positive reaction New Direction got is the reason for S Club 8's current music style.

I agree wholeheartedly...but I seem to remember Mr. PJ stating that 'Fool No More' was the best track to come out of the S-Club camp since 'Don't Stop Movin'....it surely follows that it must therefore be better than 'Nude Erection'

New direction is a favourite of mine. And the remix is top too.
Automatic high and Fool no more are also unbelievably mighty. So I have very high hopes for next single Sundown.
It'll be close between this and No good advice.

their new song - sundown is wicked, ne1 heard it?? Yay Sundown is great, especially the fact that Calvin sings and his voice is all broken. You cant beat One Step Closer though!
