Great news! I hope the black eyed peas can become the first act since god knows when, prob the 90s, to do 5 weeks at number 1 The last song to spend more than 4 weeks at number one was Believe by Cher (which had 7 weeks in 1998). I thank you.

I have a wee feeling that over the course of the week, BEP were #1 after Monday, Rachel was #1 after Tuesday, and BEP have been #1 since - Liquid News said tonight that Rachel was #1, I don't know if they've since been told differently.
Still, CD:UK's on later today (since we are in Saturday now), let's see what they say.

Yeah, there is a big battle for the top between BEP x Rachel, the latest news i've heard says Rachel back at top on Thursday sales by a whisker, but i don't know if this is really true! Hope with passion Rachel's victory

I hate the BEP's song. I would much rather Rachel be number one, even though I am yet to be convinced of her aceness. I am too busying focusing on next week's album charts for Absolution though.

Rach was #1 on CD:UK, but I have an evil feeling that the record everyone will be buying in the shops today is BEP's...

I'm loving this tussle.
It's fun isn't it, it's great not knowing who's going to be number 1 for a change even on the Saturday.
I'll be really happy if Rachel wins but until then this is exciting.

It's the second time this year that sales difference between number 1 and number 2 are so closely, the same feat occured when Tomcraft won Craig David, it was a big surprise to me!
I hope Rachel can win BEP but Saturday sales are seeming favourable to BEP

It's not even the first time this year that Rachel's been given a CD:UK Saturday Chart #1, and had the official #1 taken away from her - CD:UK had S Club ahead of R Kelly back in May.

It is exciting not knowing, but it's also rather nerve-wracking! I really hope Rachel gets to no.1, her song is far mightier than the BEPs. I shall actually have to listen to the chart tomorrow, something that I haven't done in ages! How novel.

Last year cduk had liberty x as no 1, then on the sunday it was atomic kitten, then the same happened with Will Young and Christina Aguilera, then Craig David and Tomcraft, and S club and R Kelly. Coincidentally, the acts they "got it wrong" with happened to be in the studio at the time. I think they like to end with a live act and not a video or recording, so they just give it to who's there and say "its neck and neck but x is just ahead" when in fact it isn't true. Hope this makes sense!

This happens with all the songs I like - the cheesier of the songs always sell more at the start of the week and the dull ones always pick up at the weekend. I remember when Steps were CD:UK #1 with LGAHOMH and Ricky Martin was #1 the next day. Sick and wrong.
I think we should have daily charts - that would be really fun.

But then BEPs sold more on Monday, so hopefully Rachel will break the cycle and get the no.1 she deserves. A daily chart would be fun, but ever so confusing!
