I understand - always knock yourself first, to pre-empt anyone who might insult you. Were I to go "god I'm a fat twat", it would prevent anyone else from calling me a fat twat because I'd got there first. Or something. Yes. It's supposed to show that you can take a joke, or something. And by saying that, this then allows you to be evil and mean to everyone else in the world It's great And also deflects abuse you might get. If you say 'I'm a fat twat', people thinking 'I'm going to call that person a fat twat' will think 'Aww, he already knows. I'm not going to mention it now' and therefore spares your frail self confidence from getting knocked So, in summary, put yourself down because it's not as mean as when other people do it for you

As a genuine fat person I think most people, ie. women, say they're fat because they want people to say "oh no you're not! you have a lovely figure etc" It's just a way of getting validation from other people.
But then on the other hand, when I say I'm fat, as a matter of fact, people still feel they have to say "no, you're not". It's sweet that they think they're making you feel better, but then it makes me feel like they think I'm one of those annoying women who are always harping on about how fat they are.

I'm not sure why but I'm imagining you with some sort of police badge saying "Genuine Fat Person". Next time someone starts saying "no, no you're not" you could whip it out and yell "FREEZE!"
