But it doesn't really matter, as I'd already bought a newer phone the previous day. Which I still have!
But I lost all my cards: Switch, Mastercard, NUS, Uni library/PC room (aaarrrggghhh!), Nectar, Tesco, Poptastic, WHSmith, Boots, Central library, Bannatynes gym, Sugden Centre gym, Blockbuster. Plus any others I may have forgotten. And four first-class stamps.
If anybody finds them, I'll reward you lavishly with lashings of affection, and my oldest pair of rubber shorts (the now-famous cock-to-arse access ones).
Serious questions:
1. Where would lost property found in a black cab (rather than a minicab) actually go to? I've no idea.
2. Will my bank give me any money if I go in and show them my chequebook and last bank statement? Otherwise I may well, erm, die. I have nothing to buy food with.
Cheers, your tall and careless friend, Nick.

oh you silly boy! aren't black cabs controlled by the council? try them, or try asking another black cab driver. if you've got a cheque book you can write a cheque for cash can't you?

I know that in London there's a centralised minicab lost property office. Quite potentially there's one in Manchester too. Try Directory Enquiries (obviously 118888, which is the best).

I'm so crap. oh you silly boy! aren't black cabs controlled by the council? try them, or try asking another black cab driver. if you've got a cheque book you can write a cheque for cash can't you? I think I need my card to write a cheque, though. You do in Sainsburys. And people who write cheques these days hold up the queue, and get angry looks (in my experience).

Nick, You should be able to withdraw money from a branch by getting your account number and having some form of id with a photo ie driving licence. You need to phone up some freephone number from your card company to cancel them all. At the bank you will be able to order new cards/pins

But you have to wait a week, and if I don't eat for a week, I'll die*. Photo ID? If only I had a passport or a driving licence (unbelievably, I have neither). Will my railcard do? I'll try the lost property as well Panda, cheers. * Such powerful melodrama!
