Hello Will
Thank you for your post.
You're right - it's not ideal. The new, secret bit of the board will probably just become a moderators' discussion area and hopefully the deleting-crap method will mean we can all use the main board.
I see what you mean about the board evolving rather than 'going to shit', but the thing is that the tone should be in keeping with the main Popjustice.com site, and it's moved totally away from that. As things are, this could basically be any pop messageboard on the web, and that's not what it's supposed to be.
Your posts are always fine, by the way.

That was a very good post Will and you are quite right. It isn't people's fault if they can't post the 'right' things. I do think however there is a need for certain posts, such as those in text speak and threads promoting an artist to be removed, cos I don't think that is what this board is for.

well obviously my lack of special stars is just an administrative oversight or something i think this system might just work as it gives people something to strive for that is more difficult to achieve than just posting as much as possible. however (and its a big however) this really isn't fair! the idea that people who post "in the spirit of the board" should be rewarded is a sound one but it is not right that "the spirit of the board" should be dictated by one person. surely the chaos and arguments are what makes popjustice fun. i enjoy them, and there is still plenty of healthy discussion and useful pop knowledge exchanged. i'm sorry if other people don't like what the board has evolved into (and evolved is the correct word - it hasn't "gone to shit" or "got worse" its just changed) but that's really their problem. this may just be bitter ranting because i don't have a star, but even if i did i still think that the board should be a total democracy. that's why i was happy when the ranks were abolished. the idea of a secret board is elitist and totally unfair to people who are enthusiastic and post a lot but aren't posting the "right" things according to someone else's tastes. finally i understand that ultimately this is the popjustice board, and its your prerogative to decide how it should be run, but i think it is a shame that you have decided to create a secret society where you and your "favourites" (and that's what it seems like) can hide from the rest of use plebs. why should people like me who have been members for a long time and who post a lot because they care be punished (once again, it seems like a strong word but its the one that sums up what this secret forum represents to me) because our posts aren't always witty or self conscious attempts to impress others. i am always honest in my posting and if that means i am not "in the spirit" of popjustice then i guess i just don't understand popjustice after all, and don't desperately want to. i know this will just look like i am complaining but i really am a bit saddened by this latest developement. hope i'm not the only one who feels this way and that the people with stars won't start ignoring us lesser posters! Will, the "Secret" area for the starred folks is essentially just a zone to discuss the nature & future of the board. All the actual "Pop and Justice" stuff is still, and will still be happening here, on the Pop and Justice section. I think the "Star giving" was/ is a temporary solution to get a discussion going to try to address the perceived degeneration of the board.....

Jessica i agree that some posts really do deserve to be deleted. but isn't that what moderators are for? we shouldn't have to edit ourselves.
